The Transpennine Cycling Club has it's origins in 1992 when founder members Tony Slater and Keith Ogden decided to set up a club of their own with fresh ideas and as an alternative to the other clubs in the area. Since then the membership has grown and the club has gone from strength to strength.
Thanks to the friendliness of the members and the warm welcome given to experienced and novice cyclists alike, our riders have been able to experience racing, touring, mountainbiking, charity rides and many other facets of our sport. But most importantly they have made new friends and enjoyed the companionship of group riding.

Over the years the club has had many successes including racing and touring, which can be seen by clicking on the menu to the left. One of the most notable achievements has been the 'Over the Edge' charity ride which, organised jointly with the British Heart Foundation, has become an annual event and one of the BHF's largest events in the North of England. With it's three routes - gold, silver and bronze, there's a ride to suit everyone.
This year the 2012 ride has been renamed as "The David Geldard MBE Over The Edge Bike Ride" in memory of our president who very sadly passed away late last year. It will take place on Sunday 20th May, starting at 9am from Hollingworth Lake Visitor Centre, Rochdale. Please register via the British Heart Foundation website bhf.org.uk/ote or telephone the BHF on 0121 661 5161.
